Context & ChallengePhoenix Central Park is the vision of philanthropist Judith Neilson AM, well-known as the founder and owner of Sydney’s prized White Rabbit. It is a one-of-a-kind performance space in Sydney’s Chippendale that gives artists space to be brave.

Responding to the impact of sustained lockdowns on Sydney’s arts and cultural communities, Phoenix announced an open call out to Sydney’s musicians to participate in a digital live concert series entitled HALO. 500 artists applied. We were tasked to promote this incredible event with an identity. To work at its fullest pre- and during the event, it had to be bold and iconic to cut through with musicians and digital viewers, and dynamically adaptable to integrate into live features.

A Dynamic Identity Fitting for the event, we wanted to make a bold statement and shine a light on the halo – the iconic Phoenix lighting rig that took centre stage during performances. As a versatile and dynamic graphic identity system, it rises, pulsates, and dynamically extends across various formats, symbolizing the emergence of artists from lockdown. This system proved effective both as a static graphic and in motion.
